Monday February 17 2020 Sterling Pond Snowshoe by Nancy SchulzCharlene Bohl and Nancy Schulz had a great weather day, with temps in the high teens and low 20s, for their snowshoe trek to Sterling Pond. Both the road and the trail featured packed snow with some powder on top and no ice. The wind was fairly strong as they walked up the road but it diminished completely when they started on the Sterling Pond trail. After walking 2.5 hours, then arrived at the stunning view of the frozen Sterling Pond in full sun with a snow-covered mountain ridge behind it. Following a very leisurely lunch in the heated "Top of the Notch" warming cabin, they trekked back to Barnes Camp. Both agreed their trip provided a good workout and a day full of Vermont's winter beauty.
