Saturday September 21 2019 Lake Willoughby Paddle by Nancy Schulz

Because conditions on Lake Willoughby can change quickly and become quite challenging, the trip leaders discouraged potential participants who weren't accustomed to paddling long distances in rough water. As luck would have it, the weather gods smiled upon this outing. Temperatures were in the 70s and there was a light breeze. Lake Willoughby was as gentle as it ever gets. Nancy Schulz and Phyllis Rubenstein enjoyed a 10-mile round trip paddle along the west shore, admiring the outstanding view of Mt. Pisgah's cliffs, listening to loon calls, and checking out a couple of small coves. Most summer visitors had left the area, leaving the lake delightfully quiet. The north beach provided a great view to the south during lunch.
