Wednesday May 22 2019 Stranahan Town Forest by Phyllis Rubenstein

On Wednesday, May 22, 2019, 2 of us hiked 3.6 miles on old woods roads and forest trails in Stranahan Town Forest in Marshfield, including the Sugar House Maple Loop, the Upper Sugar Woods Trail, the High Ridge Trail, and the Old Grist Mill Road, stopping to identify spring wild flowers, listen to birds, and to view the remains of a grist mill at a scenic waterfalls, the stone foundations of farm buildings, a beaver pond, and a vernal pond. The weather was perfect: sunny and initially cool enough so there were no black flies. There are many more trails to explore in this 622 acre tract.
