Thursday May 28, 2015 Work hike Sterling Pond trail by Steve Bailey

Seven volunteers showed up to finish work on the Sterling Pond trail. One group of four worked on finishing the part which runs from the highway up to the junction with Snuffy's. A group of three went directly to Snuffy's and worked on the trail from there to the Sterling Pond shelter, continuing around the pond back to the junction with the Long Trail. The weather was threatening rain during the whole morning, but held off until 1:30 before the downpour started. Unfortunately the group was still on the way down the trail when the rain hit. Everyone arrived safely to the cars. There were still some significant patches of snow on the trail around the pond (see photo); all other sections were clear. By the time we finished, both sections of trail were looking very good. There were a couple of blowdowns around the pond, but nothing that was hard to get past.
