YAC Worcester Mountain Snowshoe
Sunday March 11, 2012
On a day that seemed more spring than winter, we gathered at Shawn Keeley's house and hiked up the road and then a mile up the Worcester Mountain trail. The day was warm and sunny and kids and parents alike peeled off layers of hats, coats, fleeces and sweaters. Kids scampered across the deep snow to explore tunnels, look for bears' dens, and examine "crashed space vehicles" along the trail while parents post-holed whenever they stepped off the trail. In a sunny glade each kid had a snack in his or her own gopher-hole before we rambled back down the mountain. The kids collected Shawn's sap buckets and we boiled it down for a syrupy treat.
