Trip Reports
September 5, 2005
North Twin Mountain, White Mountains, NH

Our trip started with a surprise rain storm that the weather forecast did not predict. The trail ascends with 3 crossings of the Little River. In high water, the first 2 crossings can be avoided by bushwhacking along the river bank. Due to the week's earlier rainfall from the remnants of Hurricane Katrina and the morning showers, we were forced to do just that. The rain stopped but the mountains stayed in the clouds all day leaving us with no visibility.

At the summit of North Twin, myself, Ed L, and Karen T took a side trail to a lookout that would have offered great views had the weather broke. We did not take the North Twin Spur over to the Summit of South Twin due to a hiker issue. South Twin sounds like a possible triple header with Galehead and Garfield for next year when the daylight would permit.
