This was one of those mountain hikes that everyone waits for each year. The day was absolutely beautiful with a slight breeze and the temperature in the 70's. Billowing clouds filled the sky when we started climbing Hunger Mtn. at about 9:30 A.M.
It was a record group of fifteen people who took advantage of this wonderful Saturday morning. There were two hikers from Burlington, another from Waitsfield and the rest were from the Montpelier area.
We reached the summit in 2 1/2 hours and enjoyed the beautiful views as we ate lunch and rested in the sun. The air was so clear that there was no difficulty in seeing the Presidential Range to the east and the Adirondacks to the west.
We left the summit via the White Rocks Trail, which everyone agreed was surprisingly beautiful with its fem grottoes and moss-covered rocks. We reached the parking lot by 3:00 P .M.
