The trip was cancelled due to the forecast of temperatures in the 40s with a 30% chance of rain.  (On the day prior to the trip, downtown Montpelier received its first accumulation of snow.)

On the afternoon of the trip, as I was in my second week of battling a cold and as I watched the sheets of rain coming down through my kitchen window, I decided the decision to cancel was a prudent one.
