Sunday July 7, 2002 Canoe Kayak Paddle around Lake Ninevah (237 acres) in Mt Holly Leader: Nancy Schulz Two paddlers who had planned to join this trip changed their minds, so Anne Ferguson and I ventured to Lake Ninevah in Mt. Holly accompanied only by our kayaks. The water was a bit choppy, skies were overcast, and the air was warm as we put in just after 11:00 A.M. We followed the uneven coast, enjoying the maze of paths in a large marshy areas. The delicate species of pink orchids that we saw in clusters was an unexpected visual treat. We encountered beaver lodges and dams long much of the undeveloped shoreline. We completed our circuit in time to paddle at another spot on the way north to Montpelier. Kent Pond is a smaller but equally pleasant body of water. On the afternoon of Sunday, July 7, it was populated by swimmers, anglers, and other recreational kayakers and canoeists. There are many lakes and ponds within a 2 hour drive south of Montpelier that we intend to explore on future outings. Participants Nancy Schulz Anne Ferguson
