 Cross-country ski in Groton State Forest

On a bitter cold and windy day, the group headed down the snowmobile trail from the parking lot on Forest Road to the town of Lanesboro [a village of Marshfield]  We followed the old Wells River / Montpelier railroad tracks to a logging road which took us between Marshfield Pond and Marshfield Mountain.  The rock cliffs on the mountain were spectacular.  Upon returning to the parking lot via the same trail, we discovered that the cliffs on Marshfield Mountain were just beyond us !!
