Thursday August 22 2019 YAC Waterbury Center Hike and Swim by Sharon Plumb

Four mamas and 6 littles (6 months to 7 years old) met at 9:30 at GMC Headquarters to hike the Short Trail. Beautiful weather made for a delightful meander. We stopped at the shelter to enjoy seasonal snacks and “Stone Soup” with retold and illustrated by Jon J. Muth. Lots of playing in the tiny stream and hopping along the boardwalk, popping jewlweed seeds, and nibbling on blackberries. At the end of the hike, we played on the apple trees, sampled from each tree and then made our way to Little River State Park day use area for an afternoon of picnicking and swimming.
