Sunday February 02 2020 Hardwood Flats (Elmore) XC ski by Steve and Heather Bailey

Hardwood Flats is a privately owned area with groomed and ungroomed trails which is open to the public for no fee. At 1600 ft elevation, the skiing is often better there than other places closer to Montpelier. Nine of us had fun skiing on an easy loop around Hardwood Pond, and then more challenging loops around the area. We especially liked the loop which led to a cabin overlooking Hardwood Pond, where we stopped for lunch.
