Sun May 26 2024 Wildflower hike in Groton by Steve Bailey
Annual wildflower hike in Groton – we walked from New Discovery State Park to Big Deer and past Osmore Pond and back. As usual, we counted lady’s slippers in pink and white. This year they were less plentiful, probably due to the drier weather. We counted over 100, well off the total of over 150 last year and 220 the year before. We also saw Canada mayflower, Clintonia borealis, painted trillium, star flower and cucumber root.
