On a brisk, windy, but sunny spring day, six of us walked 4 miles around Sodom Pond. We saw chickadees flitting around in low trees; Canada geese, hooded mergansers, and several beaver lodges on the pond; maple sap buckets hanging from sugar maple trees, beaver-cut tree stumps, and red flower buds emerging on red maple trees. From Sibley Road, we saw Spruce Mountain and adjacent peaks to the north and south. Despite the cold wind, the blue sky and the sun warmed us.
