Sat Oct 29 2022 Bamforth Ridge Work Hike by Morgan Irons

Our final trail maintenance day of the season, October 29, was record-setting! Fifteen workers assembled at the Bamforth Ridge parking lot, eager to take up tools and head up the trail to prepare it to resist erosion from fall rains and spring melt. We cleared fallen leaves and debris from ditches, water bars, and stream beds, cut blow-downs, created new drainage, clipped brush, and raked corners to alert hikers to turns. Thanks to great fall weather most of the group was able to relax at the bridge for lunch and socializing after our labors. Special thanks to the two Burlington Section members who again joined us in our efforts. As part of the work day Bamforth Shelter adopters Nancy Thomas and Dana Lawrence, accompanied by Jill George, spent considerable time working on the shelter spur trails, clearing the water source, and inspecting the various structures.
