Sat Jan 10 2026 Ski at Craftsbury Outdoor Center by Phyllis Rubenstein

On Saturday, January 10, 2026 (date was changed due to forecast for wintry mix Saturday night into Sunday), 3 of us skied at Craftsbury Outdoor Center on trails that were in very good condition, given that the temperature hovered around 35 degrees. We headed out to Duck Pond, a pleasant trail with relatively gentle ascents and descents. My two ski partners decided to ski Duck Pond in both directions, and ended up doing it a total of three times! Leaving them, I skied part of Lemon’s Haunt, Moss Run, Kirby’s Downhill, and Ruthie’s Run outbound, which I skied in both directions. Although it was busy in the morning near the biathlon range, due to a race, the trails we skied were quiet. There was a lot of glide on the slightly abrasive but well-groomed snow, with occasional soft snow and a few icy spots. Granted conditions would have been better if there had been fresh powder; but we were happy to have skied! This morning the Craftsbury Outdoor Center website reported that only 20% of the trails are fully open, so we definitely made the right decision in skiing yesterday!
