Executive Committee Meeting 1962/0600

Executive Board Meeting
June [no day specified] 1962
Present: Wayne Cliff, Margot Cliff, Marion Gorham
Since the chicken barbecue was so successful, the Cliffs decided to have a steak cookout at the July 15th outing. They will be responsible. The secretary will send out postcard notices and notify the trip leaders.
Possible sites for the lobster and corn roast were discussed. Suggested were: Hubbard Park, Shady Rill, Wiley Lodge. Suggested price was $1.50. The secretary, who is chairman of the event, will consult with the Otises, her committee.
With the next schedule the president will write a newsletter soliciting opinions on the purchase of company equipment for rental by club members.
It was suggested that in the next schedule we consider more profit making cookouts. Members seem to turn our for these events better than for hikes.
In reference to the president’s newsletter it was suggested that he emphasize making reservations for hikes and include tips to hikers concerning clothing and equipment, since some of the hikers have turned up poorly prepared recently.
The secretary will try to obtain a topographical map in relief of the Mt. Mansfield – Camel’s Hump area through Capital Stationers and to pick up the money owed us for three guide books.
In August the secretary will write George Hamilton making tentative reservations for eight for the Lake of the Clouds hike.
It was suggested that we make or have made an outfit like Gordon Butler’s rig to use for cookouts. Wayne will look into this.
Suggestions for our next schedule include: a cookout early in October at Wiley or Taylor Lodge; a trip to Texas Falls; a 10 A.M. breakfast, perhaps pre-hike — cost $0.50 — ? Wiley.
Another note re dues will be included in next schedule.
Cards will be sent to the radio stations re: the steak cookout.
Post card concerning steak cookout will include the following information: Our chicken barbecue was so successful we decided to make our July 15th outing a steak cookout, with the steak charcoal broiled in an old Hawaiian manner. Make reservations with Dave Otis. Bring your friends. Bring your own beverages. Cost $1.00. Steak and potato chips provided.
Secretary will be away in July. President will be away in August.

M. Gorham, Secretary
