Thursday July 05 2018 Lake Groton Paddle by Nancy Schulz
(This trip was co-sponsored with the Montpelier Senior Activity Center - MSAC.)
We had six paddlers in total today on Lake Groton: two leaders and four trip participants. All participants heard about the trip via MSAC. The trip was originally scheduled for this past Thursday but there was a chance of thunderstorms in the forecast. That and the extreme heat led us to postpone the trip until today which offered much more comfortable paddling conditions. After paddling 50 minutes along the shore, we had a leisurely lunch at the spillway. We then continued tracing the shoreline, returning to the state park put in after another 90 minutes on the water. It was one woman's first experience with MSAC and first time to Lake Groton. She was paddling a solo Hornbeck canoe and was doing very well. Another woman had paddled on Lake Groton before but had never gone as far as the spillway. I believe everyone had a good time and is eager to paddle again soon.
