Saturday February 10, 2018 Laraway Snowshoe Trek by Morgan IronsOn a mild Saturday morning a dozen hikers gathered at the Codding Hollow trail head to snowshoe up the Long Trail North to the ledges just below the summit of Laraway Mountain. The trail had not been broken since a big snowfall three days earlier, so it was quite a workout for those who took turns in the lead position (by the end that was mainly the intrepid Deborah from Burlington). For most of the group the ice formations at the ledges were the end goal, but a few continued the short distance beyond to the Lamoille Valley overlook, though the overcast day didn't allow for any view. Everyone enjoyed the company of a great group of hikers, six GMC members and six non-members, hailing from Calais, Barre, Montpelier, Woodbury, and Burlington.
