Wednesday January 11, 2017 Moonlight Trek in Montpelier by Jill AspinallScheduling the man in the moon is tricky. The backup date caught the man, yet reduced the turnout. The temperature, around freezing, was very pleasant, albeit not typical for early January. No need for snowshoes, yet traction devices made our footing much easier. Clear moonlight shone as we started from North Branch Nature Center, taking trails not previously known to my fellow hiker. As we wove our way into Hubbard Park, cloud cover gradually seeped in, shrouding the moonlight for our return through North Branch River Park. Enough luminosity remained to complete the journey with only natural light, giving us a fun taste of winter magic.
