LT/Elephant's Head Trail
Do to recent heavy rains, the Notch Brook was not fordable. Instead, our small group of five regular volunteers drove on to the Notch and swept the Sterling Pond Trail. Almost all of the drainage structures are overtopped and not functional. 75% of the trail had water running on the treadway. These waterbars, ditches, and stairs need major rehabilitation. This job is beyond the ability of the Section. Since we were unable to get to our main work assignment, we will plan to use the already scheduled 6/25 work party to cruise this trail. Earlier scouting suggest some blowdowns, but trail was passable.
