Poetry Hike to Bamforth Ridge Shelter
Finally we were lucky, after having cancelled several trips due to miserable weather or threatening forecasts. It was a splendid summer day! Bob L., Bob S., Cilla, and Fred joined us for the third section poetry hike, this time to Bamforth Ridge Shelter. As we were eating our lunch, Bob L. warned an arriving hiker that he had stumbled upon a meeting of the Bamforth Ridge Poetry Society. The stranger was not intimidated, claiming he was an English major.
Bob S. and Cilla read their own well-crafted poems, while the rest of us recited from a variety of printed sources--including Long Trail limericks copied from a 1946 GMC competition. It was a most pleasant event and hike in good company.
