Worcester Ridge Traverse

Eleven humans and one black lab gathered at the Middlesex trailhead (after some driving around to setup the car shuttle.) We started our hike and soon found ourselves scrambling up the rocky slabs near the summit of Mt. Hunger. The view from the top afforded expansive views of early fall trees just beginning to change color. From Mt. Hunger, we set off north along the Skyline Ridge trail. We were unsure exactly how far we had to travel as various signs, the trail guide and the map have conflicting information about the actual length of trail. After several hours of hiking and innumerable ups and downs, we concluded that it was a good long way! Although lightly used, the trail had a few mud pits to hop over. Nice views to the east and west made the ridge interesting. Our final summit, Mt. Worcester, also had some great views. A great time was had by all! This hike is highly recommended, if you can manage to set up a shuttle on your own.
