Sunday, July 18 -- Hike. Duxbury. Difficult. Longer option is 7.8 miles and the shorter is 6.6 miles. From Couching Lion parking lot, ascend the Monroe Trail to the Alpine Trail South past the B-24 wing to the LT. Scramble to the summit. When we reach the hut clearing, if all agree, we will descend .8 miles to the Alpine Trail and them 1.2 miles up to the Monroe Trail, back to the parking lot. Too strenuous for anyone, from the hut clearing, will take the Monroe Trail directly to parking lot.     Leader: Fred Jordan.

Saturday, September 25 -- Hike. Mahoosuc Notch, NH. Very Difficult and very strenuous. 9.4 miles. 10 hour hike. The toughest and longest mile on the AT. Spot cars on Success Pond Road and hike in on the Notch Trail. At the Notch, we will climb over, crawl under and navigate through the boulder-filled Notch. Then ascend the steep slope of the Mahoosuc Arm, descend to Speck Pond Trail (the highest tarn in the State) and hike out on the Speck Pond Trail.     Leader: Phyllis Rubenstein.
